Premiering on September 2nd, 2009 to somewhat mixed ratings and reviews, Glee is perhaps the most talked about new show on TV.  On December 29th, 20th Century Fox Home Entertainment released Glee: Volume 1 – The Road to Sectionals, the first half of season 1.

 

Glee is a sporadically entertaining and enjoyable musical TV show, but the humour is often off-colour and mean-spirited.  Though the melodrama and comedy sometimes fall painfully flat, the show is saved by the strong musical numbers.  Although I’ve yet to be proven a ‘Gleek,’ I have quite enjoyed several episodes, and the show is worth checking out – if only to know what all the talk is about.

 

This 4 disc set contains the first 13 episodes of the show’s first season, and in my opinion, the 3rd disc holds the best episodes.  Part 2 of season 1 will premiere tonight on Global.  Please check local listings.
