Bull Durham: On August 31st, 20th Century Fox Home Entertainment released the hilarious baseball comedy Bull Durham on Blu-ray/DVD combo pack.  The story of making love and playing ball was originally released in 1988 and was very deservedly Oscar nominated for Best Original Screenplay.  The dialogue snaps along at a quick pace and is just as fresh over 20 years out, making this is a highly entertaining film both in and out of the Baseball season.

 

The DVD includes audio commentaries with director Ron Shelton and stars Kevin Costner and Tim Robbins, as well as several featurettes.

 

Bull Durham is 108 minutes and rated 14A.

 

Blood Simple: On August 3rd, they also released Blood Simple on Blu-ray.  I don’t believe the Blu-ray release of this 1985 suspense thriller is available yet in Canada, but the Coen brothers’ first of many great films is available to buy as a good old DVD, and it comes highly recommended.

 

Blood Simple is 96 minutes and rated 14A.
