On December 4th at midnight, eOne Home Entertainment is releasing this summer’s hugely successful third entry into the Twilight saga on Blu-ray & DVD. They are also releasing two other discs that are simply perfect for Twihards.
With a good action-oriented pace and superior production values over the first two, The Twilight Saga: Eclipse is a surprisingly entertaining film that doesn’t alienate those of us who haven’t read Stephanie Meyer’s books. We reviewed the film when it opened in theatres on June 30th, all considering it the best of the current trilogy. Our overall consensus was:
“The Twilight Saga: Eclipse is a better movie than the first two in the series. With superior acting and special effects, this is a surprisingly entertaining summer blockbuster, that will surely please Twihards, as well as those who haven’t read the books. *** (Out of 4)”
The Blu-ray includes audio commentaries with stars Robert Pattinson & Kristen Stewart, and writers Stephanie Meyer & Wyck Godfrey, as well as deleted and extended scenes, a photo gallery and music videos from Muse and Metric.
The special features don’t stop there: Perhaps most of interest to Twilight fans will be the extensive 6-part documentary, that can be viewed in both standard and Picture-in-Picture mode. The bonus material has an approximate running time of 244 minutes.
The Twilight Saga: Eclipse is 124 minutes and rated PG.
Also new on DVD from eOne are:
The Twilight Saga: Soundtracks – Volume 1 is a very nicely put together compilation of music videos and performances of the songs featured in the movies. With tracks by such bands as Muse, Metric and Death Cab for Cutie, the disc comes highly recommended to anyone who enjoyed the music heard in the films.
Also included on the disc are performances of Debussy’s Clair De Lune set to beautiful images of outdoor scenery, and Verdi’s La Traviata set to images of an eclipsing moon.
The Twilight Saga: Soundtracks – Volume 1 is 100 minutes and rated PG.
Destination Forks: The Real World of Twilight is a fan-focused feature-length documentary on the real town of Forks, Washington. Showing the locations that served as the inspiration behind the landmarks featured in the books and movies, this film’s appeal is pretty much limited to avid followers of the series. In other words, it’s got a pretty big audience.
Destination Forks is 83 minutes and rated G.
