This morning, the nominations for the 68th annual Golden Globes were announced. Honouring the year in film and television, the nominees in three of the top categories included:
Best Picture – Drama:
Black Swan
The Fighter
Best Picture – Musical/Comedy:
Burlesque
Red
The Tourist
Best Animated Feature:
The Illusionist
The line up for Best Picture – Drama is good, although it is unfortunate there was no room left for Danny Boyle’s 127 Hours. For Comedy/Musical on the other hand, at least half the line up is kind of ridiculous. The nominations in the animated category are simply spot on.
Overall, the nominations seem to be pretty much what was expected, but as always with the Golden Globes – particularly in the acting categories – there’s a fair share of choices that seem far-fetched. The winners will be announced on January 16th, 2011.
