Today eOne Films is releasing the Italian film Baarìa on DVD.  From legendary director Giuseppe Tornatore, and the opening night selection at the Venice Film Festival in 2009, Baarìa follows the epic life journey of Peppino (Francesco Scianna), from his childhood in the Sicilian village of Bagheria (Baarìa), through a forbidden romance, and ultimately leading to his comic political career.

Perhaps best known for the beautiful 1988 film Cinema Paradiso, Tornatore is a force on the Italian film circuit, and followers of his work will want to check this one out on DVD.

 

The DVD includes a short behind the scenes featurette, and a trailer for the film.

 

Baarìa is 150 minutes and rated 14A.
