Just over 3 months after it bowed in theatres, today Sony Pictures is releasing The Social Network on Blu-ray & DVD.  The current frontrunner for Oscar glory come February 27th, director David Fincher’s telling of the Facebook story is anchored by excellent performances and a masterful screenplay by Aaron Sorkin.

 

We reviewed the film when it opened in theatres on October 1st, all awarding it the highest rating of 4-stars.  Our overall consensus was:

 

“With excellent acting and a smart screenplay filled with sharp dialogue, David Fincher’s The Social Network is a thought-provoking look at the founding of Facebook and the internet age.  Sure to be an awards contender, this film is a must-see. **** (Out of 4)”

 

The 2-disc Blu-ray comes packed with bonus features, including two commentary tracks and numerous featurettes on different aspects of the film.  The stylish and classy packaging is also noteworthy, making this a highly recommended set.

 

The Social Network is 120 minutes and rated PG.
