Today, James L. Brooks’ beloved 1987 film Broadcast News is being released on the Criterion Collection.  Staring William Hurt, Albert Brooks and Holly Hunter in her breakout role, this is a quintessential classic that offers a satiric look at a Washington news network and is widely considered among the best movies ever made about the world of television and journalism.

 

The Blu-ray includes a commentary track with James L. Brooks, a new documentary on Brooks, several featurettes, an alternate ending and deleted scenes.  Also included in the package is a booklet featuring an essay by film critic Carrie Ricky.

 

Broadcast News is 132 minutes and rated 14A.
