Today, 20th Century Fox Home Entertainment is releasing Never Let Me Go on Blu-ray & DVD.  Unfortunately denied the Oscar recognition that it rightfully deserved, the film comes highly recommended.  Anchored by transcendent performances from Carey Mulligan, Andrew Garfield and Kiera Knightly, Mark Romanek’s masterful big screen rendering of Kazuo Ishaguro’s beautifully written novel is as haunting as it is moving.

 

We reviewed Never Let Me Go when it opened in theatres on September 24th, all awarding it the highest honour of 4-stars.  Our overall consensus was:

“With impeccable production values and uniformly excellent performances, Never Let Me Go is a beautiful, touching and heartbreaking adaptation of Kazuo Ishaguro’s brilliant novel. **** (Out of 4)”

 

The DVD includes a 30-minute ‘behind the scenes’ documentary, two short featurettes profiling both Romanek’s on-set photography and the art of central character, Tommy, as well as a short compilation of campaign graphics for the fictional school of Hailsham.

 

Never Let Me Go is 104 minutes and rated 14A.
