DVD/Blu-ray Release: Rio

Today, 20th Century Fox Home Entertainment is releasing the animated hit Rio on Blu-ray & DVD.  Playing to the uplifting beat of an excellent soundtrack, the characters here are endlessly appealing and the inspirational messages fly high, as the film has an infectious energy about it that will leave everyone smiling as the credits start to roll.  We reviewed Rio when it opened in theatres on April 15th, all awarding it a perfect score of 4-stars.  Our overall consensus was:

“With beautiful animation, great characters and a strong soundtrack, Rio flies high and soars.  A true delight for those of all ages, this is easily one of the best and most enjoyable movies of the year, so far. **** (Out of 4)”

The Blu-ray includes a deleted scene, two nicely done music videos (Welcome to Rio & Telling the World), a generous number of featurettes on everything from the pitch-perfect voice acting and sound effects to the excellent music, as well as several games.  Also included is a digital copy of the film.

Rio is 96 minutes and rated G.

  1. I am obsessed and in love with this movie! The story is charming, the characters are likable and appealing, the voice acting is wonderful, and the animation and music is groundbreaking. Once again, thank you, One Movie, Five Views, for raving this movie.

    1. All lists of the best movies of the year will be coming at the end of 2011, or in early January of the new year. But I can tell you right now that Rio is still one of the very best animated films of the year, and is guaranteed at least an honourable mention as a part of my overall “top 10” list.

      Thanks for asking!

    1. We will be having coverage of both Happy Feet Two and Arthur Christmas throughout November, they just haven’t been added to the sidebar yet as we are not sure if we will be able to see them in time to offer a full review on opening day.

But we will definitely be seeing and offering coverage of both these animated films, even if just as an article.

Thanks for your interest in our thoughts on these titles!
