Last week, D Films released The Guest on Blu-ray. When David (Dan Stevens) arrives on the doorstep of the grieving Peterson family, claiming to have fought with their son who was killed overseas, he is immediately welcomed into their home. But when people start mysteriously showing up dead, their crafty young adult daughter Anna (Maika Monroe) becomes suspicious of the new houseguest.
With stylish cinematography and a perfect soundtrack, The Guest is simply a great blast of genre filmmaking, offering an exciting mix of action and horror elements that unfolds with creeping suspense and a wicked sense of humour. Topped off with rocking performances from Dan Stevens and Maika Monroe, this is one of the most purely entertaining films of 2014. My full review is right here.
The Blu-ray includes a commentary track with director Adam Wingard and writer Simon Barrett, a brief Q&A with Dan Stevens, and several deleted scenes.
The Guest is 101 minutes and rated 14A.
