Today, Paramount is releasing their recent box office hit The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge Out of Water on Blu-ray, including an impressive 3D combo pack that comes highly recommended for those with the right system in place.

When the famous Krabby Patty secret formula mysteriously disappears, SpongeBob (Tom Kenny) must team up with his enemy Plankton (Mr. Lawrence) to retrieve it, an adventure involving human pirate Burger Beard (Antonio Banderas) that takes them through time and even to our world.

Although a notch below the pretty great first film from 2004, The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge Out of Water is still a thoroughly enjoyable cartoon trip, packed with plenty of amusing gags and a few big laughs, including a hilarious flock of seagulls and a very funny dolphin.  Nicely mixing the old school animation of the show with some live action sequences, this is simply a lot of fun for fans of these classic characters, and the solid 3D effects add to the overall zany enjoyment of the film.

The Blu-ray includes the delightful 3D musical number “Thank Gosh It’s Monday,” many deleted and extended scenes, multiple featurettes, as well as several music videos.

The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge Out of Water is 92 minutes and rated G.
