Today, Paramount is releasing their recent film Project Almanac on Blu-ray.  When David Raskin (Jonny Weston) discovers blueprints for a time machine left behind by his late father, the teenager develops a way to transport himself and his friends through time, with his sister (Virginia Gardner) filming every step of the way, but this leads to unexpected consequences for the group.

For a found footage thriller about the consequences of time travel, aimed mainly towards high schoolers, Project Almanac is actually pretty good and a surprising amount of fun to watch unfold.  The initial promise of the intriguing opening scenes mostly pays off with some neat twists along the way, and even if the science doesn’t always logically check out, the film is elevated by a few clever ideas, as well as likeable performances from the young cast.

The Blu-ray includes deleted scenes, an alternate opening and two alternate endings, which are somewhat interesting to see, but not as strong as the ones they ultimately went with.

Project Almanac is 106 minutes and rated PG.
