Today, Sony Pictures Classics is releasing the recent period drama Testament of Youth on Blu-ray. Vera Brittain (Alicia Vikander) is a young woman who dreams of being a writer, but puts aside her university education to work as a nurse during World War I, when her brother (Taron Egerton) and love interest (Kit Harington) enlist in service.
With fine performances, including moving dramatic work by Alicia Vikander in a breakout year for the young actress, and respectful direction from James Kent, Testament of Youth is an emotional and beautifully filmed adaptation of Vera Brittain’s now famous anti-war memoir, that explores powerful themes of forgiveness.
The Blu-ray includes commentary with James Kent and Kit Harington, deleted scenes, and a “making of” featurette.
Testament of Youth is 130 minutes and rated PG.
