Today, Disney•Pixar’s The Good Dinosaur is being released on Blu-ray. The film imagines a world where dinosaurs never went extinct and follows Arlo (Raymond Ochoa), a scared young apatosaurus who becomes separated from his family when tragedy strikes, and forms a bond with a feral human child named Spot (Jack Bright), as they struggle to survive on their own and journey home.
Although The Good Dinosaur was seen as a critical and commercial disappointment when it opened in theatres, I remain a big fan of the film. This is a heartfelt and visually breathtaking journey, that unfolds against some stunningly rendered landscapes, and features several beautifully done sequences. It deserves to find a bigger audience on Blu-ray, and my full review can be found right here.
The Blu-ray includes audio commentary with director Peter Sohn and other members of the team, a few deleted scenes, and several production featurettes. Also included is the excellent Oscar-nominated short film Sanjay’s Super Team, which is one of Pixar’s finest.
The Good Dinosaur is 93 minutes and rated PG.
