Today, Paramount is releasing The Big Short on Blu-ray, one of the best movies of last year.  The film recounts the true story of financial outsiders Dr. Michael Burry (Christian Bale), Jared Vennett (Ryan Gosling) and Mark Baum (Steve Carell), who predicted the Wall Street crash and hatched a scheme to get rich in the face of the looming recession, by betting against the supposedly solid housing market.

Nominated for five Oscars, and winning a highly deserved trophy for Best Adapted Screenplay, The Big Short is a piece of smart and thought provoking entertainment, that offers a compelling picture of what led to the housing crash.  Both blisteringly intelligent and entertaining as hell, this one is totally worth seeking out.  My full review is right here.
