Today, Paramount is releasing the family comedy Daddy’s Home on Blu-ray. Brad Whitaker (Will Ferrell) is happily married to Sara (Linda Cardellini), and is a doting stepdad to her two little kids (Owen Vaccaro and Scarlett Estevez). But when their biological dad Dusty Mayron (Mark Wahlberg) shows up, their household is turned upside down as the two men battle for affection from the kids.
The biggest problem with Daddy’s Home is that the film never quite seems sure of who it’s trying to reach, often being a little too juvenile to really engage older viewers, but cruder than expected for the young kids who will more closely relate to the story and saccharine messages. This is a mindless slapstick comedy that’s mediocre at best, but it still has a few moments that make it mildly worth a look for fans of the leads, who do have some fun chemistry together.
The Blu-ray also includes deleted and extended scenes, as well as several featurettes.
Daddy’s Home is 95 minutes and rated PG.
