One of the best surprises of the year so far, 10 Cloverfield Lane is a crafty and inventive thriller that follows a young woman (Mary Elizabeth Winstead) who ends up trapped in a bunker with an insane older man (John Goodman), who warns that disaster has struck and the outside world has become toxic, trying to keep her from escaping.
Although the finale feels a bit needless, and I wish the film had ended on a more ambiguous note, 10 Cloverfield Lane is an incredibly effective chamber thriller that is anchored by brilliant performances and offers genuine suspense. It’s the sort of film that deserves an even bigger audience on Blu-ray, and my full review can be found right here.
The Blu-ray also includes a commentary track with director Dan Trachtenberg and producer J.J. Abrams, as well as seven featurettes on the film.
10 Cloverfield Lane is a Paramount Home Media Distribution release. It’s 103 minutes and rated 14A.
