A low-key financial thriller set in the high stakes world of inside trading that premiered at TIFF last year before getting a limited release in theatres this spring, Canadian director Kim Nguyen’s The Hummingbird Project is now available on DVD.

The film follows two cousins (Jesse Eisenberg and Alexander Skarsgård), who hatch a scheme to make money by drilling a four inch wide tunnel running fiber optic cables from Kansas to New York that will speed up transactions on the Stock Exchange by a millisecond.

I found that the film has some tonal inconsistencies, but it also features strong performances from Eisenberg and Skarsgård, and I do think that it’s worth checking out for them now that it’s available on DVD. For more on the film itself, you can read my full review right here.

The DVD also includes a selection of deleted scenes, which showcase some well acted moments and are worth watching after the film.

The Hummingbird Project is an Elevation Pictures release. It’s 111 minutes and rated 14A.
