Blu-ray Review: 80 for Brady

By John Corrado

Please note that this is a review of the Blu-ray release of 80 for Brady. For my full thoughts on the film itself, you can read my original review right here.

After a run in theatres this February, where it drew in crowds of seniors, the feel-good football comedy 80 for Brady is now available on Blu-ray.

Loosely inspired by a true story, the Tom Brady-produced film centres around four older ladies – Lou (Lily Tomlin), Trish (Jane Fonda), Betty (Sally Field) and Maura (Rita Moreno)  – who travel to the Super Bowl to see their hero Tom Brady play.

As I wrote in my original review, “80 for Brady offers an undemanding and easily enjoyable good time.” Sure, this is purely fluff, but the four legendary leading ladies are clearly having fun, and it’s hard not to be pretty won over by the film’s modest charms in the end.

This is the sort of film that delivers exactly what you expect, with some more sitcom-style laughs and a few sweet moments showing their friendship. It’s a decent comedy geared towards older viewers, and one that should enjoy a nice shelf life at home.

Film Rating: ★★½ (out of 4)

Bonus Features (Blu-ray):

The Blu-ray includes a decent amount of bonus material considering the type of film this is. A code for a digital copy is also included in the package, which ships with a standard slipcover.
