New This Week (07/14/2023): Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One, The Miracle Club, & More!

By John Corrado

New releases for the week of July 14th, 2023.

Hayley Atwell and Tom Cruise in Mission: Impossible Dead Reckoning Part One from Paramount Pictures and Skydance.

Theatrical Releases:

Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One (Wide Release): Tom Cruise returns to the big screen as Ethan Hunt in the seventh instalment in the Mission: Impossible franchise. Directed by Christopher McQuarrie, this is another exciting sequel, with the main attraction once again being Cruise doing his own stunts and reaffirming his status as our last true movie star. It’s long at 163 minutes, and very much feels like a Part One, but the running time mostly flies by. The final hour alone is thrilling and demands the big screen experience. See it in IMAX if you can! (Full Review)

The Miracle Club (Limited Release): Laura Linney, Kathy Bates and Maggie Smith star as three Irish women who make a pilgrimage to Lourdes in director Thaddeus O’Sullivan’s The Miracle Club. It’s an uneven film that plays as somewhat of a mix between syrupy, faith-based TV movie and more cloying melodrama, but it’s not entirely ineffective, and elevated by the presence of its leads.
