New This Week (03/29/2024): Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire, Club Zero, & More!

By John Corrado

New releases for the week of March 29th, 2024.

Theatrical Releases:

Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire (Wide Release): The two Titans duke it out and team up in this latest MonsterVerse blockbuster from director Adam Wingard, serving as a followup to his 2021 entry Godzilla vs. Kong (which unfortunately had its theatrical run limited due to the pandemic, so it’s good to see this sequel getting a proper big screen release). I haven’t seen this one yet, but I enjoyed the dumb fun of Godzilla vs. Kong, so I look forward to checking it out.

Club Zero (Limited Release): Mia Wasikowska stars as a teacher at an elite private school who encourages her students to slowly give up eating in this unsettling satire from Austrian director Jessica Hausner. It’s a unique experience watching the students fall under the sway of Wasikowska’s chillingly calm cult leader, in what serves as a deeper commentary on how susceptible young people are to various forms of radicalization. More Releases: Ryuichi Sakamoto: Opus (Limited), Autumn and the Black Jaguar (Limited)

Streaming Releases:

The Beautiful Game (Netflix), STEVE! (Martin) a documentary in 2 pieces (Apple TV+), A Gentleman in Moscow (Paramount+), The Boys in the Boat (Prime Video), The Taste of Things (VOD)
