Blu-ray Review: Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire

By John Corrado

Please note that this is a review of the Blu-ray release of Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire. For my full thoughts on the film itself, you can read my original review right here.

After a successful run in theatres, Sony Pictures Home Entertainment has now released Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire on physical media, including Blu-ray.

This latest instalment in the Ghostbusters franchise that began forty years ago in 1984 is a sequel to 2021’s Afterlife, that brings the action back to New York City, where Phoebe Spengler (McKenna Grace) and her family are now busting ghosts out of the iconic firehouse.

As I wrote in my review, “this is a for-the-fans sort of film that mostly works as a fun family adventure movie.” While the story banks heavily on nostalgia and is a bit uneven, it’s a decent follow up to Ghostbusters: Afterlife that works thanks to the best efforts of the new cast members and the return of the old ones.

Film Rating: ★★½ (out of 4)
