Theatrical Releases:

The Crow (Wide Release): This remake of the 1994 supernatural thriller with the late Brandon Lee (who infamously died in a tragic on-set accident), stars Bill Skarsgård and FKA Twigs. I didn’t attend the screening so can’t offer a review, but the general reactions are not exactly kind for this updated version, and it’s tracking to open quite low at the box office too. I’m personally not really sure why it needed to be remade. For those interested, the original film did just get a nice new 4K Ultra HD edition for its 30th anniversary, which I reviewed.

Between the Temples (Limited Release): This indie screwball dramedy charts the unlikely friendship between a Jewish cantor (Jason Schwarzman) and his former music teacher (Carol Kane), who wants him to help her prepare for her Bat Mitzvah. I found it a bit on the long side, but it’s built around a pair of fine performances by Schwarzman and Kane, who have strong chemistry together. (Full Review)

More Releases: Blink Twice (Wide), The Forge (Limited), Strange Darling (Limited)
