New Trailer Released for Robert Eggers’ Nosferatu

By John Corrado

Focus Features has just unveiled the new trailer for Nosferatu. This is the latest film from director Robert Eggers, who gave us memorable visions with his trio of films The Witch, The Lighthouse and The Northman. There are massive expectations on this film – which is inspired by F.W. Murnau‘s 1922 silent film Nosferatu, a version of Dracula – because of it. And it looks to deliver.

Bill Skarsgård plays vampire Count Orlok, whose appearance is kept hidden in the trailer. The cast also includes Lily-Rose Depp, Willem Dafoe, Nicholas Hoult, Emma Corrin and Aaron Taylor-Johnson. The moody cinematography by Jarin Blaschke (who shot all three of Eggers’ previous films and was Oscar-nominated for The Lighthouse) seems to be one of the main draws here, with its use of contrast and shadows. This looks to be quite a visually stunning film.

The film opens in theatres on December 25th. The Christmas Day release date shows a pretty high level of confidence in this by Focus. The full trailer is below, and as always please feel free to comment your thoughts once you have watched it!
