The horror film Longlegs, directed by Osgood Perkins, is one of the biggest success stories of the year, with distributor Neon turning the indie movie into a box office hit. Neon is now re-teaming with Perkins for The Monkey, an adaptation of an old Stephen King short story, and they have just released the first teaser trailer for the film.

This looks to be more darkly comic than the serial killer thriller Longlegs, with the teaser hinting at a strong ‘80s horror movie vibe (which I like). The cast includes Elijah Wood, Theo James and Tatiana Maslaney, and the plot involves a toy monkey that causes people to die. Neon also fittingly picked up TIFF People’s Choice Award winner The Life of Chuck, another adaptation of a Stephen King novella, for release next year. So 2025 is already shaping up to be another big year for them.

The film opens in theatres on February 21st, 2025, and is being distributed in Canada by Elevation Pictures. The official “red band” teaser trailer is below, feel free to comment your thoughts after you have watched it!
