New Trailer for Bong Joon Ho’s Mickey 17

By John Corrado

Warner Bros. has just released the new trailer for Bong Joon Ho’s Mickey 17, the Korean director’s follow up to his Oscar-winning Parasite. This one stars Robert Pattinson as a lonely man who signs up to be an “expendable” on a dangerous space mission; every time he dies, they just print out a new one.

This looks like a lot of fun, both entertaining and creative, and Pattinson appears to be having a ball in the leading role (goofy accent and all). It very much seems to be in the vein of Bong’s earlier works like Snowpiercer or Okja, a sci-fi film with a satirical, darkly comic bent to it. The film has had its release date pushed around multiple times by now, and I’m honestly not sure why all the delays. To my eyes at least, it looks quite good.

Mickey 17 will finally be arriving in theatres on March 7th; nearly a year after it was initially supposed to open. The film will have its world premiere at the 75th Berlin International Film Festival in February before that. The full trailer is below.
