New Trailer for Ryan Coogler’s Sinners

By John Corrado

Warner Bros. just released the new, full-length trailer for director Ryan Coogler’s Sinners. Coogler is the director behind Black Panther, Creed and Frutivale Station, and Sinners is his latest collaboration with star Michael B. Jordan. This time around, Jordan stars in a duel role, playing twin brothers.

The new trailer shows off more of the plot (a lot more), which concerns vampires in the 1930s American South, and seems to be built around the idea of music being able to conjure evil spirits. Hailee Steinfeld, Josh O’Connor and Delory Lindo round out the cast. The cinematography by Autumn Durald Arkapaw looks to be one of the main selling points; Sinners was shot on 65mm film, and the trailer showcases the striking, ultra-widescreen 2.76:1 aspect ratio.

It looks dark and atmospheric, but also with some pulpy, vampiric thrills. The film opens in theatres on April 18th, after having its release date pushed back from March 7th. The full trailer is below.
