New releases for the week of February 21st, 2025.

Theatrical Releases:
The Monkey (Wide Release): Director Osgood Perkins follows up his surprise hit Longlegs with this horror comedy. Adapted from a Stephen King short story, Perkins’ latest is about a cursed toy monkey that causes people to die in creatively gruesome ways, and the twin brothers (played by Theo James in a dual role) who are haunted by it. It’s a playful, darkly funny film that delivers a lot of morbid laughs, and I had fun with it. (Full Review)
More Releases: The Unbreakable Boy (Limited), Parthenope (Limited), Morningside (Limited), Eat the Night (Limited)
Streaming Releases:
Win or Lose (Disney+): The first two episodes of Pixar’s new streaming series premiered this week. The studio’s original long-form animated series follows a middle school softball team in the lead up to their big championship game, with each of the eight episodes told from the perspective of a different character. I previewed the first four episodes, and like what I’ve seen so far. New episodes premiere every Wednesday. (Full Review)
More Releases: Zero Day (Netflix)
