Focus Features has just unveiled the first trailer for Wes Anderson’s The Phoenician Scheme, the filmmaker’s first film since 2023’s underrated Asteroid City. This one is touted as being an espionage thriller, but the trailer reveals that it will still be very much in line with Anderson’s usual artistic style.
We get a glimpse into another immaculately designed world from Anderson, who is working with cinematographer Bruno Delbonnel for the first time instead of his usual Robert D. Yeoman. Benicio Del Toro leads the stacked cast, and the trailer ends with a roll call of the various actors; a mix of members of Anderson’s current stock company and a few fresh faces.
I’m a huge Wes Anderson fan, so I’ll be seeing this no matter what. The film opens in theatres on May 30th. The full trailer is below.
