New releases for the week of April 25th, 2025.

Theatrical Releases:
The Accountant 2 (Wide Release): This long-awaited sequel to the 2016 action thriller finds director Gavin O’Connor returning, and Ben Affleck reprising his role as autistic accountant Christian Wolff. Jon Bernthal is also back as the brother. I was a pretty big fan of the underrated original (even when others weren’t), and reviews are surprisingly even better for this sequel that appears to double down on action and humour. I’m looking forward to it.
The Legend of Ochi (Limited Release): This A24 fantasy arrives in theatres after premiering at Sundance. It’s the feature debut of music video director Isaiah Saxon, and stars Helena Zengel as a teenage girl who rescues a baby creature. Willem Dafoe, Emily Watson and Finn Wolfhard are also in the cast. But I’ve heard that the main standout are the practical effects and animatronic work done to bring the titular creature to life. I’ll check it out when I have some time.
More Releases: Until Dawn (Wide), The Shrouds (Limited), On Swift Horses (Limited), Cheech & Chong’s Last Movie (Limited), Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith (20th Anniversary Re-Release)
Streaming Releases:
Havoc (Netflix), Superboys of Malegaon (Prime Video), Sea Lions of the Galapagos (Disney+)
