New Trailer for Zach Cregger’s Weapons

By John Corrado

Warner Bros. and New Line Cinema have just released the new trailer for Weapons. This is director Zach Cregger’s followup to his breakout horror hit Barbarian, starring Julia Garner as a school teacher dealing with every kid from her classroom going missing one night. It looks disturbing and incredibly well crafted.

Cregger’s latest is said to be an ambitious horror mystery film, heavily inspired by Paul Thomas Anderson’s Magnolia of all movies, in how it weaves together different storylines and perspectives. I was already onboard from the first trailer, and this new one continues to sell the intriguing central mystery. I’m excited by what we have seen of the performances and cinematography so far, and already digging the creepy, foreboding tone; a sort of mix of Prisoners and last year’s Longlegs.

I’m wondering if this one can similarly become a breakout hit at the box office. The film opens exclusively in theatres on August 8th, the new trailer is below.
