First Trailer for Project Hail Mary

By John Corrado

Despite not being scheduled for release until next March, a three minute trailer has just been put out for Project Hail Mary, the new science fiction film from directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller. It’s based on a book by Andy Weir, who also wrote the book behind The Martian, and stars Ryan Gosling and Sandra Hüller.

Gosling plays a sixth grade science teacher who is tasked with going to space to help save a dying sun. This looks like an ambitious sci-fi film in a similar vein to Ridley Scott’s Oscar-nominated (and very entertaining) 2015 adaptation of The Martian, and I’m hoping that Spider-Verse producers Lord and Miller can stick the landing with this one. The trailer certainly has me looking forward to it, and the fact that Amazon MGM Studios has released such a lengthy look so far in advance suggests a lot of confidence on their end.

The film opens exclusively in theatres on March 20th, 2026.
