Searchlight Pictures has just given us our first look at Bradley Cooper’s Is This Thing On?, the director and actor’s follow up to Meastro and A Star is Born. Cooper’s latest is a character dramedy starring Will Arnett as a guy going through a divorce (Laura Dern plays ex-wife), who turns to standup comedy in New York.

Cooper appears in a supporting role, but the real focus of this trailer really is Arnett, in what looks to be a solid tragicomic performance. Cooper also reteams with his A Star is Born and Maestro director of photography Matthew Libatique this time around, and the trailer hints at his intimate, handheld shooting style. I’m actually really looking forward to this one, and the trailer looks right up my alley.

The film opens in select theatres on December 19th, following a world premiere at the New York Film Festival in October (it apparently wasn’t ready in time for TIFF). The full trailer is below.
