Netflix has just released the official trailer for Guillermo del Toro’s Frankentstein, the director’s long-gestating passion project bringing Mary Shelley’s original novel to the screen. I was lucky enough to see this one at TIFF, and came away impressed (you can read my full review from the festival right here). The production design is dazzling, but it is Elordi’s haunting performance as the monster that I keep going back to in my mind.
This trailer offers us a few glimpses at Elordi’s makeup, which was kept hidden in the first teaser, while also highlighting the film’s dark tone and gigantic scope. Having seen the film already, I can say that it does a good job of whetting our appetites. The film opens in select theatres on October 17th – including 35mm screenings at TIFF Lightbox in Toronto – before streaming exclusively on Netflix on November 7th.
