New This Week (11/14/2025): The Running Man, Sentimental Value, Jay Kelly, & More!

By John Corrado

New releases for the week of November 14th, 2025.

Stellan Skarsgård and Renate Reinsve in Sentimental Value

Theatrical Releases:

The Running Man (Wide Release): Edgar Wright’s latest film is an adaptation of the Stephen King novel, starring Glen Powell as a man being hunted on a deadly reality show in a dystopian future. As I wrote in my review, this doesn’t quite reach the heights of Wright’s previous action flicks like Hot Fuzz or Baby Driver, but it’s still a fun ride that features a charismatic turn by Powell (and a scene-stealing appearance by Michael Cera). Now You See Me: Now You Don’t (Wide Release): The other big movie this week is the third instalment in the Now You See Me series that began in 2013. This one finds the Four Horseman (Jesse Eisenberg, Woody Harrelson, Dave Franco, and Isla Fisher) teaming up with a trio of young magicians (Dominic Sessa, Justice Smith, and Ariana Greenblatt) to steal a diamond from a rich heiress (Rosamund Pike). This is probably my favourite of the trilogy for the ways that it fully embraces the goofy fun of the magic heist premise. (Full Review)

Sentimental Value (Limited Release): This latest film from Norwegian director Joachim Trier reunites him with The Worst Person in the World star Renate Reinsve, who stars as a young actress exploring her complicated relationship with her filmmaker father (Stellan Skarsgård). The film features excellent performances from Reinsve and Skarsgård, alongside strong supporting work from Inga Ibsdotter Lilleaas and Elle Fanning. It’s my favourite movie of the year so far, and surely to be a major Oscar contender. (TIFF 2025 Review)

Jay Kelly (Limited Release): Director Noah Baumbach’s latest film casts George Clooney in the titular role of an aging movie star reexamining the relationships in his life, including with his manager Ron (played by Adam Sandler). I just saw this one yesterday, and really enjoyed it. Clooney and Sandler both deliver excellent work, backed up by a collection of wonderful supporting performances, with Linus Sandgren’s cinematography and Nicholas Britell’s score elevating the experience. More Releases: Keeper (Wide)

Streaming Releases:

A Very Jonas Christmas Movie (Disney+): The Jonas Brothers play versions of themselves in this streaming movie that finds them stranded in Europe and trying to get home to New York in time for Christmas. It’s honestly pretty enjoyable, peppered with a number of fun cameos and supporting appearances, and sure to delight fans of Kevin, Joe and Nick. (Full Review)

Come See Me in the Good Light (Apple TV+): I saw this documentary at Hot Docs, where it won the Audience Award, and it’s still one of the best films I’ve seen this year. Director Ryan White follows queer poet Andrea Gibson at the end of their life, as they grapple with having terminal cancer. It’s an incredibly moving but also life-affirming experience, guided by Gibson’s incredible spoken word performances. (Hot Docs 2025 Review)

More Releases: In Your Dreams (Netflix), A Merry Little Ex-Mas (Netflix), Playdate (Prime Video), Being Eddie (Netflix), The Beast in Me (Netflix), Freakier Friday (Disney+)
