The first teaser trailer has just been released for The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping. This is the sixth instalment in the franchise, and the second prequel following 2013’s The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes. This one is set in Panem over two decades before the first one, and focuses on the 50th Hunger Games.

We get our first look at the stacked cast, which includes Glenn Close, Elle Fanning, Mckenna Grace, Jesse Plemons, and Ralph Fiennes as a younger President Snow. The lead is Joseph Zada, who is taking over for Woody Harrelson as a young Haymitch Abernathy.

This teaser arrives almost ten years to the day since the release of The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 2, which served as the end of the original series. Francise Lawrence, who has helmed all but the first film in the series, returns to direct. The film opens exclusively in theatres exactly one year from now on November 20th, 2026.
