Official Trailer for Matt Johnson’s Nirvanna the Band the Show the Movie!

By John Corrado

The official trailer has just been released for Nirvanna the Band the Show the Movie, Canadian filmmaker Matt Johnson’s wildly entertaining time travel comedy. This one premiered at SXSW last year, and also got a hometown welcome as the opening night film of TIFF’s Midnight Madness section, where it very easily won the Midnight Madness People’s Choice Award.

The film, which stars Johnson and co-writer Jay McCarrol as fictional versions of themselves in a feature length spinoff of their web series, is a ton of fun. The plot finds Matt and Jay trying to book a show for their band at the Rivoli in Toronto, when they accidentally time travel back to 2008, and, well, this trailer gives you a taste of what to expect in terms of the crazy shenanigans they get up to and manage to pull off. You can read my full review from TIFF right here.

This one is especially a blast to watch with an audience. The film opens exclusively in theatres on February 13th. Elevation Pictures is distributing it in Canada, with indie powerhouse NEON handling the release stateside. The full trailer is below.
