4K Ultra HD Review: One Battle After Another

By John Corrado

Following a successful run in theatres, Paul Thomas Anderson’s awards favourite One Battle After Another is now available on physical media, including 4K Ultra HD.

I already gave high praise to this one when I saw it in theatres (you can read my full review right here), and also included it on my own list of the best movies of 2025. It features excellent performances from a stacked ensemble cast, including Leonardo DiCaprio, Sean Penn, Benico Del Toro, Teyana Taylor and newcomer Chase Infiniti.

It’s a supremely entertaining film all around , thanks to the electric editing and Jonny Greenwood’s jazz score, as well as the striking cinematography. The film was shot on 35mm using VistaVision cameras, and the 4K disc does justice to it. The 2160p presentation captures this filmic look quite nicely, with rich details and a slight layer of grain. It’s a great looking picture.

While the film was presented in 1.43:1 for IMAX and 1.85:1 for regular theatrical showings, the disc settles on a 1.78:1 aspect ratio, which fills the usual 16:9 TV screen. It’s a bit of a compromise, but works for this home entertainment release. The only drawback of this release is the lack of bonus features, with those being saved for an extra disc that will be included in a special Steelbook edition scheduled for release in March.

Whether or not this absence of bonus material prevents you from buying it now, or waiting until the special edition drops, will be up to individual collectors. But just know that the 4K disc itself provides a reference-level presentation of one of 2025’s finest films.

Film Rating: ½ (out of 4)

Bonus Features (4K Ultra HD):

As mentioned, the 4K disc includes no bonus features. A code for a digital copy is included in the package, which ships with a matte slipcover.

One Battle After Another is a Warner Bros. Home Entertainment release. It’s 162 minutes and rated R.
Street Date: January 20th, 2026
