New This Week (02/13/2026): Nirvanna the Band the Show the Movie, Wuthering Heights, Sirāt, & More!

By John Corrado

New releases for the week of February 13th, 2026.

Theatrical Releases:

Nirvanna the Band the Show the Movie (Wide Release): It’s a pretty big week for new releases, and I’m starting off with this wildly entertaining Canadian comedy from director Matt Johnson. Johnson stars as a version of himself alongside co-writer Jay McCarroll, reprising their roles from the Nirvanna the Band web series as Toronto musicians trying to book a show at The Rivoli. Only the film has them accidentally time travelling back to 2008 in an elaborate ode to Back to the Future, and it’s as wild and audacious as it sounds. Believe the buzz, this is a CanCon classic in the making. (TIFF 2025 Review)

“Wuthering Heights” (Wide Release): Emerald Fennell (Saltburn, Promising Young Woman) directs this highly stylized new adaptation of the classic Emily Brontë novel, which is being sold off the intense chemistry between stars Margot Robbie and Jacob Elordi. It should do solid box office business over this Valentine’s Day weekend, and I’m very much looking forward to seeing this adaptation for myself. (Review coming soon!)

Good Luck, Have Fun, Don’t Die (Wide Release): Director Gore Verbinski, the force behind the first three Pirates of the Caribbean movies, returns with this very entertaining genre-hopping flick. Sam Rockwell stars in a screen-commanding performance as a man claiming to be from the future who needs to recruit people to help him stop the AI apocalypse. It’s a ton of fun, weaving in elements of sci-fi, action, and satire, but with some pointed and poignant commentary behind it. (Full Review)

Cold Storage (Wide Release): This fairly enjoyable sci-fi horror comedy follows two bored security guards (Joe Keery and Georgina Campbell) and a bioterrorism agent (Liam Neeson) who need to contain an oozing, green alien fungus when it starts bubbling up from under a storage facility. The CGI is pretty weak. But it’s written by David Koepp (Jurassic Park), and is proudly an old school B-movie. (Full Review)

Pillion (Limited Release): This surprisingly tender romantic dramedy focuses on the unconventional dom-sub relationship between the shy Colin (Harry Melling) and the leather-clad biker Ray (Alexander Skarsgård). It’s the first feature from British writer-director Harry Lighton, and serves as an impressive debut, anchored by compelling performances from the two leads. (Full Review)

Sirāt (Limited Release): This memorable film from director Óliver Laxe is one of the contenders for International Feature at the Oscars, and is up for a very deserved Sound nomination as well. Sergi López stars as a father searching for his lost daughter in Morocco, who stumbles into a community of ravers who hold dance parties in the middle of the desert. It’s an experience as surreal and delirious as it sounds, set to an incredible and hypnotic techno score by Kangding Ray. (TIFF 2025 Review)
