Sony Pictures has just released the first trailer for Spider-Man: Brand New Day. This is the sequel to 2021’s smash hit Spider-Man: No Way Home, and the fourth solo outing for Tom Holland’s webslinger. I’m looking forward to it.
This one is set four years after No Way Home, and the trailer reveals how Peter Parker is carrying on his masked crime-fighting duties but navigating a world where no one – including MJ (Zendaya) – remembers him. We also see glimpsing at crossovers with the larger Marvel Cinematic Universe, including appearances from Jon Bernthal as Punisher and Mark Ruffalo as Bruce Banner.
It’s directed by Destin Daniel Cretton, the once indie filmmaker behind Short Term 12 who was brought into the Marvel fold with Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings. The film opens exclusively in theatres on July 31st, and promises to be one of the biggest box office hits of the summer.
