Theatrical Releases:

Ready or Not 2: Here I Come (Wide Release): This fun sequel to the 2019 horror-comedy begins right where that film ended, with new bride Grace (Samara Weaving) having survived being hunted by her in-laws and now thrust into another deadly game of hide-and-seek. Kathryn Newton joins the cast as her estranged sister, as does Sarah Michelle Gellar as one of the hunters. I had a good time with this one. The Radio Silence team of co-directors Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett have delivered an entertaining and suspenseful sequel that is on par with their original. (Full Review)

Project Hail Mary (Wide Release): This sci-fi adventure from co-directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller is the most acclaimed big release movie of the year so far. Ryan Gosling stars as a science teacher sent on a mission to space. I haven’t gotten a chance to see it yet, but am excited to go soon. It’s adapted from a novel by Andy Weir, who also wrote the book behind Ridley Scott’s 2015 film The Martian, which I greatly enjoyed. Opens in wide release after having early preview screenings last weekend. (Review coming soon!)

Tow (Limited Release): Rose Byrne stars in this based-on-a-true-story dramedy as a homeless woman in Seattle living out of her vehicle, who sues a sleazy towing company for taking her car away. The tone is a bit uneven in places, but it’s worth seeing for Byrne, who turns in another engaging performance. Opens at TIFF Lightbox in Toronto. (Full Review)
