New releases for the week of April 10th, 2026.

Theatrical Releases:
Exit 8 (Limited Releases): This Japanese video game adaptation follows a man (Kazunari Ninomiya) who ends up trapped in an endless loop in a subway tunnel following his daily commute. I reviewed this one during TIFF last year, and found it to be a fun and suspenseful little thriller, that is clever and inventively made. (TIFF 2025 Review)
Hamlet (Limited Release): Riz Ahmed stars in this contemporary adaptation of the Shakespeare play, which turns it into a modern crime drama set in London’s South Asian community. It boasts strong performances from Ahmed and the small ensemble cast, and it’s interesting to see how they adapt the material to the setting (Ahmed’s version of the famous “to be or not to be” monologue is in a moving car).
More Releases: You, Me & Tuscany (Wide), Faces of Death (Limited), Hunting Matthew Nichols (Limited)
Streaming Releases:
Malcolm in the Middle: Life’s Still Unfair (Disney+): This four-episode reboot of the classic sitcom that ended two decades ago, finds parents Hal (Bryan Cranston) and Lois (Jane Kaczmarek) celebrating their 40th anniversary, and bringing son Malcolm (Frankie Muniz) back into their crazy family. It’s a very enjoyable reunion for fans of the original show. (Full Review)
More Releases: Outcome (Apple TV+), Big Mistakes (Netflix), The Testaments (Disney+), The Boys: Season 5 (Prime Video), Dreams (VOD/Digital)
