Blu-ray Release: Jason and the Argonauts

On July 6th, Sony Pictures Home Entertainment released the classic fantasy film Jason and the Argonauts on Blu-ray, in honour of this year’s 90th birthday of special effects master Ray Harryhausen.  Featuring Harryhausen’s famous skeleton fight, and filled with plenty of masterful special effects, Jason and the Argonauts is a 1963 classic.  This is the first time the film is available in HD, on the Ray Harryhausen Signature Collection.

The disc includes 2 commentary tracks, one featuring Peter Jackson and visual effects artist Randall William Cook, and the other with Harryhausen and film historian Tony Dalton.  It also includes the original storyboards for the skeleton fight, two featurettes on Harryhausen, as well as an interview with him by John Landis.

Jason and the Argonauts is 104 minutes and is rated PG.
