Today, 20th Century Fox Home Entertainment has released the definitive version of James Cameron’s epic Avatar on Blu-ray. It was the talk of Hollywood this time last year, and went on to receive a barebones home video release back on April 22nd, which we reviewed here. Now Avatar is back in all of it’s extended glory, with the exemplary release Cameron’s film deserved in the first place.
Stunning in HD and featuring 16-minutes of previously unseen footage, this is also the first version to include the spectacular original opening that takes place on a future Earth. Beautifully packaged as a hard-paged book with photos and quotes from the film, this 3-disc set is a wonderful and affordable collector’s piece for Avatar fans. It comes highly recommended.
Also included in the set are a bounty of bonus material, including the original theatrical cut, a family friendly audio track, deleted scenes and extensive making-of documentaries.
Avatar is 162 minutes and rated PG. The extended cut runs for 178 minutes and is unrated.
