Today, 20th Century Fox Home Entertainment is releasing Alexander Payne’s The Descendants on Blu-ray & DVD.  Nominated for five Academy Awards and winning Best Adapted Screenplay, this is a deeply moving and beautifully acted film with knockout performances from George Clooney and Shailene Woodley.  We reviewed The Descendants when it was in theatres on November 25th, all considering it one of the best of last year.  Our overall consensus was:

“Set against the beautiful backdrop of Hawaii, Alexander Payne’s The Descendants is a brilliantly acted and very moving film that believably deals with the emotional journey of a family coming together through loss.  **** (Out of 4)”

The Blu-ray includes deleted scenes, eight featurettes, three music videos and a silent short film titled The World Parade – Hawaii.

The Descendants is 115 minutes and rated 14A.
