Focus Features has just released the official trailer (and poster) for director Chloé Zhao’s gorgeous Hamnet, which is fresh off of winning the People’s Choice Award at TIFF. You can read my 4-star review from the festival right here.

This is clearly the studio’s priority this Oscar season, with Jessie Buckley being the Best Actress frontrunner for her devastating performance. The film itself is a highly emotional but also cathartic cinematic experience that will sweep you away by the end; everyone at the festival was buzzing about the film’s stunning final act, surely the reason why it won the top prize.

The film opens in select theatres on November 27th, before expanding on December 12th. I suspect it will do very well with more mature moviegoers. Bring Kleenex but go see this one when it comes out.
