Blu-ray Release: Breakfast at Tiffany’s
Today, Paramount Home Entertainment is releasing a 50th anniversary edition of Breakfast at Tiffany’s on Blu-ray. Based on a novel by Truman Capote and directed by Blake Edwards, the classic 1961 film stars Audrey Hepburn as the iconic Holly Golightly, a carefree woman with a mysterious past who spends her days in Manhattan searching for the perfect millionaire to marry. She meets her match in an upstairs neighbour, Paul (George Peppard).
The performances and writing are still fresh after 50 years, although some of the cultural stereotypes like Mickey Rooney’s racist role as a Japanese character do make the film feel dated. But the heart of the film is Audrey Hepburn, who brings to life a character that will be remembered long after the credits roll. The beautifully lit Technicolor scenes look spectacular on Blu-ray, making the 50th anniversary edition of Breakfast at Tiffany’s one worth adding to your collection.
The Blu-ray includes audio commentary with producer Richard Shepherd, as well as numerous featurettes on everything from the character of Holly Golightly to the music by Henry Mancini.
Breakfast at Tiffany’s is 114 minutes and rated PG.
