DVD/Blu-ray Release: Glee – Season 2
On September 13th, 20th Century Fox Home Entertainment released the complete second season of the hit musical TV show Glee, on DVD & Blu-ray. The set includes all 22 episodes from season two, most notably series’ highlights such as the excellent Grilled Cheesus, The Rocky Horror Glee Show, A Very Glee Christmas and the touching Funeral.
Although many disagree, the entertaining second season of Glee surpassed the uneven first one in many ways, with stronger character development and more clear themes. Even though there were still some inconsistencies between episodes and a few missteps, there were less contrivances in the various storylines and fewer easy answers for the characters. Most memorable were the moments of sometimes painfully effecting drama, often courtesy of excellent work from actors Jane Lynch and Chris Colfer.
Since the beginning, the strong musical numbers have always been a particular highpoint, and undeniably the axle on which the show is based. The performances here are no exception, with numerous covers of hit songs credited to the cast. As a whole, the second season of Glee is consistently good and even includes a handful of excellent episodes, making it a set worth adding to your collection if you are a fan of the show.
The 6-disc DVD set includes ‘making of’ featurettes for two episodes, a music jukebox and extra song, and bonus segments with Sue Sylvester (Lynch) and the delightfully dimwitted Brittany (Heather Morris).
