Christmas Countdown: A Charlie Brown Christmas (1965)
Every day from December 1st to 24th, we will be counting down to Christmas by profiling holiday classics both old and new. Arranged in chronological order, these are some of our favourites to watch every year. Enjoy!
Everyone has their own personal preference of what to watch over the holidays, but one that pretty much everyone can agree on is A Charlie Brown Christmas. Orignally airing in 1965 and immediately becoming an absolute classic, it’s hard to believe why the networks initially thought that the religous overtones would make it a flop. This is a crowning achievment for Charles Schulz’s beloved characters, and the wonderful messages continue to represent the true meaning of the season. It just wouldn’t be Christmas without Charlie Brown.
I have loved Charlie Brown’s Christmas since I was probably 5 years old and I’m 50 and still it’s a tradition for me and my family. My dad would watch it with us kids and he passed away when I was only 16 years old so this is one of my greatest memories! The religious tones is just a plus!
