Blu-ray Release: To Catch a Thief

March 6, 2012

Today, Paramount Home Entertainment is releasing To Cach a Thief for the first time on Blu-ray.  Directed by Alfred Hitchcock with beautiful and Oscar-winning cinematography of the French Riviera, the film stars Cary Grant as a retired jewel thief known as “The Cat” who has a passionate affair with a vacationing heiress, Frances Stevens (Grace Kelly).

The only one of Alfred Hitchcock’s films that is still owned by Paramount, it came in the middle of his impressive career, four years before he would team up again with Cary Grant for the great North by Northwest.  Starring two of the biggest movie stars of the day, To Catch a Thief was popular in 1955 and still holds up as a suspenseful thriller with luminous romantic overtones.  The cinematography looks great on Blu-ray, and fans will want to add the disc to their collections.

The Blu-ray includes commentary with Hitchcock historian Dr. Drew Casper as well as numerous “behind the scenes” featurettes, including ones on the film censorship code and on the two movie stars cast in the film.

To Catch a Thief is 106 minutes and rated G.
